Camp Chez Nous Camp Chez Nous

This summer, 2011, will be the nineteenth summer that Camp Chez Nous has offered French Immersion students an opportunity to develop French language skills while enjoying great activities. Every day the programme includes time in the swimming pool, games, sports, singing, and crafts. Special activities include campfires, hikes, theme days and special foods. Every day campers make new friends!! We offer a choice of 2 weeks for campers to attend.

Camp Chez Nous has enjoyed the use of the Mansfield Outdoor Centre property for many years. We have rented this property each year, bringing our own staff and materials. This year Mansfield Outdoor Centre has taken over operation of Camp Chez Nous. We will combine CCN traditions with new Mansfield activities and resources. Mansfield Outdoor Centre runs a year-round educational outdoor centre for school groups as well as an English language camp – Mulmur Hills Camp, during the month of July. We have partnered CCN staff with Mansfield staff to ensure a smooth transition period. We will continue to uphold the traditions, fun and purpose of Camp Chez Nous!

CAMP PROGRAMME
Camp Chez Nous is a French Immersion camp to benefit children learning French. The objectives of the Camp Chez Nous programme are to: have FUN in French, promote the USE of language, strengthen language SKILLS, MOTIVATE students to continue in French language studies.

LOCATION
Camp Chez Nous is a small (around 50 campers), residential, French Immersion camp that operates at the Mansfield Outdoor Centre, located at 937365 Airport Road, north of Highway 89, about one hour north of Pearson Airport. Mansfield Outdoor Centre sits on 300 acres of beautiful forest, fields, and wild areas.

CAMPERS
Camp Chez Nous is for all children aged 8 to 13, who are enrolled in a French Immersion programme or have basic speaking ability in French.  Enrolment is limited to 50 campers each week so the camper to counsellor ratio is low and allows for individual attention. Campers and staff are expected to spend the majority of their day speaking French in a supportive learning environment.

STAFF
Clara will be returning this year as assistant director. Other staff members consist of fully trained counsellors who all have French language experience.  All meals are prepared on site by Mansfield’s full time cook. We can meet most special dietary needs campers may have.
